Christmas is Coming!

OK Am I the only one who has been receiving Holiday catalogs in the mail?
WOW! I am just not in the mood to Christmas shop! I can not get all fired up over ornaments, light up this and that or must haves right now. I am sure I will never get too overly excited. I am not a grinch but it is way too much. I have made a big decsion to simply--throw every catalog away that I receive.
I will not even glance at it or open it....I will toss it right away.
I got three today and three got tossed.
It is really liberating. It will save money and keep me focused on my financial goals at hand.

    I have been diligently emailing the companies who have sent us catalogs. This does seem to reduce the numbers of them.......although slowly. It doesn't cost anything, just a bit of time.
    I stack up the mail I'm trying to stop, until I get a little batch on the desk here.....then I have at it.
    We have also been successful in contacting stores where we have charge cards (no balances) and asked for no print material to be sent out.
    I'm with you......I truly hate this part of the holiday season. I absolutely love Christmas, and Thanksgiving too for that matter, but choose to keep the commercialism out of my holidays!

    Ack. Yes, I am actually painfully aware that Christmas is around the corner... especially for us fruggies that like to shop in advance. Big Grin

    I agree with all of you! I also just look at Christmas as a religious hoilday. It is hard, very hard now a days, to stay focused on that aspect. I have a harder time competeing with my ex who chooses to use Christmas as a way to win love from his kids. I feel like I am in a battle so much of the time with that one. I can only work on things I have control over.
