Saturday Doings

February 3rd, 2008 at 03:20 am

Had a pretty good day today. Took my middle daughter out for lunch for our little "date". It was very nice and pleasant. I made some returns as well. I was getting close to the 30 day return window.....so I really had to get those returned! Later for dinner we did Taco Bell. I had planned it in my mind to do TB all week. So we spent $13 and got a ton of food for four people. IN fact my dinner cost $1.19 and I only ate half! Talk about cheap eats! WOW

Tonight I grocery shopped with my two youngest. It was really hard to take them. They are too busy asking to buy things. I ran into a ton of people I know so I did spend time chatting a bit here and there. The store seemed empty. I thought it would be much more crowded due to the Super Bowl. We rented a RED BOX DVD and popped some micro popcorn. Nice and cheap. Do you have a RED BOX?? You just can't beat it! Sadly that is why the MOVIE GALLERY near me might of closed.
RED BOX does not need employees......MOVIE GALLERY did.

I got the bill for the next dance competition. It is so much money! I almost wanted to cry. This one is in town--there is no hotel even in the cards.....it just adds up I guess with all the fees and having both girls in it...it is double the price for everything. I did not estimate the high cost of two girls on dance team when I got divorced...I should of asked for more support. Oh well.....I thank the Lord that I have some income from my part time job. It helps so very much! It seems outragous. I try to not complain but at times it just seems like so much. I am glad my girls love to dance and it sure beats them doing things that are wrong or unhealthy!

All in all a good Saturday.

Sunday is church and homework and working around the house. So glad I did my grocery shopping!!! That feels good to have my menu planned and have it all shopped for and put away!

I will probably not even watch the Super Bowl. I am just not into sports.

Could you ask for a discount since you are paying for 2 girls? Remeber: It never hurts to ask!

I get a slight discount on classes....10% because my oldest one is a teachers aid in one class. That is a point of frustration for her. She feels if she teaching she should get paid outright in a small paycheck. Part of me wished she did as that seems more "fair". One mom cleans the studio's bathrooms and gets a discount on her child's classes.
I just think I have to suck it up and plan on not spending much on other things.....you know that whole budget idea!!!!!! No discounts for dance team though......I have to pay the undiscounted prices. Yikes. Have a good day!

If you told their father that the cost of the dance team was getting prohibitive, do you think that he would split the cost with you? He could pay for one of the kids and he could pay for one. Just a thought. When I got divorced, my girls showed horses, that was really expensive. My ex knew how important it was to them, so he helped pay for it. Part of it was his guilty conscience, but whatever works.

It's nice they are still interested in dance and it is healthy exercise for them. You are right, well worth it. I would'nt bother your ex, you can do this! Before long, they will be out of the house, like your son, and they will have all those fond memories of mom taking them to their competitions and cheering them on!

My ex is not ever interested in giving me money.
My youngest starts tutoring this week with her teacher two days a week for reading. The cost is $10 a week. In our agreement he is to pay any tutoring costs. I have still not heard from him regarding this after numerous emails. It is only $10 a week but I feel that is his responsibility. I will just suck it up----as far as team costs...because someday they will be gone. I see so many bored old people where I work...or would LOVE to have things to do and places to go. I have to remind myself how fun these dance team events are....and for the most part....despite the cost we have fun together.

Some day, your girls will realize that it took sacrifice for them to do the activities they love, and they will really appreciate what you have done.
My kids are grown, now, and their father wonders why they don't have more than a superficial relationship with him.
They have thanked me for what I have done, and I have a wonderful relationship with them. You are right, you are building memories and also character in the children.

Thanks for the encouragement. I really needed to hear it from someone who has already walked a few more miles than I! Your words have helped me. I shared a dance memory tonight with my oldest and we had a chuckle. It was fun to remember a silly occurance and laugh about it! It DID REALLY FEEL GOOD! Thank you again for the wisdom.
